Cyberdome at Technopark - Public-private initiative of Kerala Police to ensure Net security

The Cyberdome facility will engage in internet monitoring, virtual policing, automated threat intelligence in real-time, cyber forensics, virtual courts and developing safe online surfing applications. Recently, the government had allocated Rs 2 crore for Cyberdome in the interim financial budget. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that steps to ensure Internet security and curb cybercrimes would be intensified in the State. He was speaking after the commissioning of the Cyberdome, a public-private partnership initiative of the Kerala Police, at Technopark here on Wednesday. The 2,500 sq ft Cyberdome in the Tejaswini Annexe of Technopark, Mr. Chennithala said, was the materialisation of efforts of the State over the last two years. The opening of the Cyberdome was expected to come as a major boost to the State police, who were in the process of polishing their cyber-forensic expertise in the wake of an increasing reportage of cybercrimes and online crimes, he said. Industries and IT Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty, presiding over the function, said Technopark and the State IT Department would throw their weight behind the initiative, said to be the first of its kind in the country. M.A. Vahid, MLA; V.K. Prasanth, Mayor; Nalini Netto, Additional Chief Secretary (Home); P.H. Kurien, Principal Secretary (IT); State Police Chief T.P. Senkumar; Manoj Abraham, IG (Thiruvananthapuram); and K. Shefeen Ahamed, SP (Thiruvananthapuram); were present at the event, which was followed by a commando show of the State police and an interaction with actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine. The ceremony was followed by an extravagance musical performance by Stephen Devassy & band. The whole event ‘Cybergala’ was conducted by Kerala Police in association with Natana – the cultural club of Technopark.
